Description of some ways to build connections and branch out beyond the classroom.
There are so many ways to branch out beyond the classroom for example, you can use blogs just like we use in this class. Teachers, parents, students can all communicate and use them everyday. All different people can access and communicate by using blogs and stay up to date on current classroom information.
Description of the EAST Initiative Model.
EAST stands for Environmental And Special Technologies. These things allows students to use technology outside of the classroom and in the real world rather than inside the classroom. This is hard for them to understand and grasp onto because they are so used to using the technology resources that they have in the classroom. Students are able to work with others, and get the community involved so they can see their progress and the projects that they have created, as well as becoming involved in the projects.
Discussion on some reasons to let students “lead” their projects.
Students can take their own responsibilities and learning in their own hands. We as teachers can support and help them if needed, but letting them lead their own projects, they can learn things that seem important to them. They can also think on their own, and manage their time appropriately. Having the students lead their projects is a huge benefit. Once they are familiar with the technology they are using, they are fully capable of creating and doing their own projects.
Discussion on how concepts in this chapter relate to your topic/project
This relates to our topic because we are creating a project that is led by us who are students, and we are reaching out the community to be involved, and join us in our final project. I mostly think it relates to the fact that we have created it and it is completely student based when coming up with ideas and project planning.
I like how you really emphasized on how letting the students be involved in their projects and take on their own responsibilities was a big part of this chapter and this model. You also pointed out how the students are connecting with the community and learning new tools for technology within that, which is also important.
ReplyDeleteUsing a blog is a great way to branch out to the parents and students of your classroom. This makes it easier for parents and students to keep updated with things that are going on and keeps them on track. Great point!
ReplyDeleteBlogs are a great way to communicate with the students within your classroom, just as we do here. Another idea of communicating with students via technology is just simply doing one of those documents that everyone can add too.
